    1. Who are the the people or groups involved?
    2. What is their position and relationship with each other?
  2. Briefly list the relevant facts.
  3. Define the dilemma.
    1. Was it right for ...?
    2. What should X do?
  4. Formulate the options.
    1. Remember to present all the options, including ones you disagree with or will later dismiss.
    2. State the ethical context for the option.
    3. State the option itself.
  5. Highlight the values (principles, rights).
    1. What values create the dilemma?
    2. What values will we use to choose between options?
  6. Prioritize values, select option, give rationale.
    1. Weigh up conflicting values (if there are any).
    2. Decide which ones get precedence.
    3. Choose an option from those given above.
    4. Explain why you chose that one and not another.
