Introduction
All students taking one or more computer science courses on the
main campus of Bowling Green State University are allowed to
obtain Microsoft software for free. Some software is also available
in CD form and there is a nominal media and delivery charge
for this option.
Documentation
Before attempting to download the software,
be sure to read the detailed instructions available at http://www.cs.bgsu.edu/msdnaa/MSDN-Install.pdf
Available Software
(click on title for description)
A -
The download consists of one or more CD images. Make
sure that the computer you are using has a CD writer, and that
you have
sufficient CD-R media available. You will then use the CD's
to install the software on your system. You can use the CD's
to install onto only one computer. View
and print detailed instructions found here.
B -
You will download the installation files on a computer with
a high-speed connection (DSL or Cable Modem or a campus lab).
After the download, you can install onto the same computer
where you did the download, or you can copy the installation
files to a CD-R for installation later on your personal system. View
and print detailed instructions found here.
C - When you install Visual Studio 2005, you
have the option of installing the
corresponding MSDN library as well. If you don't install the
library, Visual Studio
will access it
from the internet.
D -
The MSDN Library CD's are included when you purchase the CD's for
Visual Studio.
Access to the System
In order to obtain any software through the Department of Computer
Science, you first need to log into the MSDN Academic Alliance
Software Center. If you are currently registered for a computer
science course, you should have received an email with the
username and password to be used. The username is your complete
bgnet email address (e.g. jsmith@bgnet.bgsu.edu). The login
page is http://msdn06.e-academy.com/bgsu_cs/ If
you don't know your password, just
click on the link under Login Help.
